            International Troubleshooter

            28 minutes

        International
Troubleshooter follows Undersecretary General Ralph Bunche as he
moves about the globe overseeing UN peacekeeping operations in such
"hotspots" as Cyprus, Kashmir, Yemen and Bahrain. Scholars
and UN colleagues comment on Bunche's style and methods and his belief
in "preventive" diplomacy. Flash forward to Los Angeles,1992.
The Crips and the Bloods, two of the city's most notorious gangs, have
just signed a peace treaty. Unknown to either side, the model on which
their agreement was based is the historic 1949 Rhodes Armistice agreement
drafted by Ralph Bunche, a former resident of South Central LA. Educators
will find this module especially useful in conflict resolution and peace
          studies classes and training workshops.
