Module 4B

Race… An American Dilemma Continues
34 minutes

Not only did Ralph Bunche believe that the gap between America's professed belief in liberty, justice and equality and its racially oppressive practices could be closed, he was fully committed to finding a way to achieve this goal. This module looks at some of the strategies Bunche employed to address the problem of race in America and compares them to those of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Stokely Carmichael, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. and Malcolm X. It also poses the question, "Which tactics are most effective - open protest, or working for change within the system?"
