A Black Scholar Investigates Colonialism

Dr.
Bunche's early studies and writings on colonialism, in particular his
ground-breaking 1936 essay, A World View of Race, are the focus
of this module. It follows Bunche throughout Africa and around the world
as he observes and records the impact of colonialism on indigenous societies
and cultures. - a phenomenon he looks at from the unique perspective
of an African American scholar. This experience has a lasting impact
on Dr. Bunche's world view and prepares him for his future job as head
of the Trusteeship Division of the United Nations.
