Making of a Scholar/Activist

In
this episode, Ralph Bunche pursues post-graduate studies, earning a
master's degree in political science from Harvard which, in 1928, launches
his extraordinary 13-year teaching career at Howard University. At Howard,
Bunche becomes increasingly active in the struggle against racial and
economic injustice. This module shows Bunche and his colleagues at Howard
engaged in the social, political and economic challenges of the period
- the Great Depression, the rise of fascism, the outbreak of WWII and
the debate about racism among Black intellectuals that continues to
this day.
